This is not a story I was originally going to write about but I'll keep it short.

Democratic presidential candidate  Beto O’Rourke has revealed that he was a member of the Cult of the Dead Cow (cDc), a decades old hacking group behind numerous campaigns of hacktivism.

If Beto O’Rourke wins the presidential election, he will be the first hacker president. In this age, it is difficult to find politicians informed on technology, especially when it comes to cyber security. O'Rourke isn't just some random person ghosting on an old forum, he was apart of cDc. An old hacking group achieving legendary status among some technology groups.

In the article written by Joseph Menn of Reuters, he writes about O'Rourke's role in the hacking scene. While he didn't participate in the more malicious parts of the group, he did have a role in the group as a writer of t-files. Which is apparent that while he wasn't one of the best or anything when it comes to security, he did learn a solid foundation in technology.
